St. James Lutheran Church
was founded on June 15, 1884. We are a Christian congregation, and as such we believe in One Triune God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as revealed in God’s Holy Word, the Bible.
We
believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in human flesh, and that He
died on the cross and rose to life again for our salvation. We believe
that God offers forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who
sincerely believe in Jesus Christ as the One Way to the Father. We
believe that the Holy Spirit gives and strengthens faith through the
Word of God and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. This
faith is a joyous faith which offers strength and courage to the
disheartened and provides real purpose for living and certain hope for
the dying. We believe that Christians express their faith in a life of
regular worship, fellowship, Bible study, witness, service and prayer.
We
are a member church of the national church body The Lutheran
Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), which is headquartered in St. Louis,
Missouri. It is a denomination of over 6,000 congregations and over
1,000 Christian schools, that are united around our common belief in
the authority of God’s Word and the message of Jesus Christ for the
salvation of the world.
